It was a lot of work for one person to run the old Great Walk email system. The bulletin board was created because it will contact you by email automatically every time there is an update if you want it to. Otherwise, all you have to do is check in every once in a while to read up on many messages you used to receive by email.
It may not seem convenient to begin with, but using the bulletin board really does make life much easier for the person who used to have to moderate all the email in and out (OM to Michael!), so thanks for your cooperation.
Discussions about Great Walk issues, such as what we should do with the Great Walk bus or amendments to the Great Walk Constitution are another practical consideration that is dealt with very well by a bulletin board. The committee needs to make decisions that everyone can participate in.
Yes and no.
The board administrators (Michael and myself) can look up your member profile, but do not have access to your password: so even we cannot post for you. Please note that the only two fields you must complete are User Name and valid email address. You can share as much or as little of the rest of the personal information as you choose.
If you are very concerned about your privacy, it would be a good idea to make sure that you keep the default option of hiding your email address. People visiting the board could still contact you by using the private message option, but no one other than the board administrators would ever have access to your email address.
Sure: read the LONG explanation here.
